14 Hosting a Game Competition Event for Students

There are two ways that GoVenture Entrepreneur can be used to host a fun game competition for students. This can be done in short 20-minute sessions or any longer duration.

It is best to use Lemonade Stand or Kiosk for events that are 2 hours or less. Full Business is too comprehensive for short events.

Students Play GoVenture Individually

  1. Create a Group for the event.

  2. Create as many usernames as you need for each session. For example, if you are working with 100 students but only have 10 students per session, you only need 10 student accounts because you can reset them between sessions.

  3. Log in with each username to set up a name and password.  Keep the passwords simple.  Join the Group Number. This eliminates the need for students to go through these steps and keeps you in control of the names and passwords for each account.

  4. Print each username and password on a separate sheet of paper and place it next to each computer/tablet.

  5. When students arrive and sit with the device, direct them to log in using the username and password on the sheet of paper.

  6. Direct students to play for a specific amount of time. You may also use Group Play Limits to assure students play the same maximum number of Simulation Days.

  7. Award prizes to top performers and/or random draw.

  8. Use the RESET STUDENT option to reset all usernames for the next cohort of students to start fresh (but they will use the same username, password, and group).  If you want to keep the results rather than delete them, create a new GROUP for each session (cohort of students).

Instructor Plays GoVenture — Group Play

This option is best if you do not have devices for students to play the simulation themselves.

  1. Instructor plays GoVenture on a big screen. Informs students that they are the senior management team and must advise the instructor which decisions to make.

  2. Instructor is the only one playing the simulation.  Students do not use devices, they simply talk, discuss, direct.

  3. Instructor resets the simulation for each new cohort of students.
